Robert Gallon
Robert Gallon was born in England in 1845. He is widely regarded as one of the finest late Victorian landscape painters, best known for his landscape paintings of the British Isles. Painted in muted ochres and subtle tonal variations, his work frequently features placid bodies of water reflecting the grey English skies.
Gallon’s canvases was regularly exhibited at institutions like the Royal Academy and the British Institution from 1873 to 1903. Stylistically akin to other British academic painters like George Vicat Cole, Gallon’s work is notable for his fondness for plein-air painting. The artist died in 1925. Notably, his work has achieved over $40,000 at auction.
