A member of Manchester Academy of Art, Stanaway’s work has been exhibited throughout the North West including Manchester City Art Gallery, Salford Art Gallery and Liverpool Cathedral. He attended De La Sale Training College before continuing his studies at Manchester University. Stanaway’s work is highly sought after by serious art collectors in the UK and abroad. His paintings are sharp, graphically structured and yet have a sense of softness and show the influence of William Roberts, Keith Vaughan and Fernand Leger. He is heavily influenced by the people and places around him, painting familiar locations. The Manchester area was particularly significant to him as it is the area that he was born and grew up in.
