Award-Winning American artist, Robert Cox, studied at the Katharine Gibbs School of Art. In 1956 he joined Mayhew Peakes as a graphic designer, and resigned six years later to move from New Jersey to California. Robert Cox’s paintings were primarily brightly colored floral stills that were created using a palette knife. Cox paid special attention to natural light and shadow, especially on the petals and leaves of his pieces.
Robert Cox found much inspiration for his beautiful floral paintings in California and became one of the most prolific painters of the 1970’s and 1980’s. He used palette knife to create his stylised flowers and was awarded the Brown Hammerson Medal of Honour for services to art in 1986. His work is featured in museums, galleries and private collections across the world.
