Description
A traditional original oil painting of the beautiful English countryside, capturing the range of trees, fields and buildings to be found in the English Landscape. Vincent Selby (1919 – 2004) British Landscape Artist, was born in Stockport, Cheshire in 1919. His interest in the arts developed at an early age, leading him to study art at Stockport College, where he was tutored by prominent artists of the 1930’s.
A World War II veteran, Vincent went on to serve in the Royal Artillery from 1939 to 1946. On his return to civilian life, he was employed as Display Controller for the display and interior design of a leading furniture house. In 1973, he became a full-time artist, producing paintings largely influenced by the work of the 19th Century English school landscape painters.
He is an established artist with leading galleries throughout the world, exhibiting and selling his original work in the United Kingdom and the United States of America with great success. As Vincent passed away in 2004, there is a fixed volume of his work in circulation, making each of his paintings a valuable asset to any collection.
